ABOUT JIKIDEN REIKI®
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese term meaning universal life energy. This energy is the natural, vital healing force found in all life. Jikiden Reiki® teachings are from the original, authentic Japanese lineage. This lineage goes from Mikao Usui to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi to Wasaburo Sugano and Mrs. Chiyoko Yamaguchi to her son Tadao Yamaguchi.
Jikiden Reiki® allows you to experience a Japanese form of Usui Reiki in its original beauty and simplicity.
Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her son Tadao Yamaguchi worked together to bring us the purest sense of Usui’s teachings through Dr. Hayashi. In the US, many began practicing Reiki; however, in Japan, Chiyoko sensei had been practicing this technique for some 65 years.
Reiki in Japan was taught more of Western Reiki since they believed no students directly taught by either Usui sensei or Hayashi sensei existed any longer. That was true until a woman was mentioned in a book. It was Chiyoko Yamaguchi that was mentioned. She was only 17 years old when she learned Reiki from Hayashi Sensei. Her son Tadao Yamaguchi had grown up with Reiki; Reiki was utilized as their first care for ailments.
It was Tadao who realized that Western Reiki had left out many beautiful parts of the Reiki he grew up with and added things that Usui Sensei and Hayashi didn’t teach.
Thanks to Chiyoko sensei and Tadao sensei, this would be the birth of Jikiden Reiki®. The Jikiden Reiki Institute was born and the original teachings would be given.
All seminars follow exactly the same format so that Jikiden Reiki is always passed on without alteration. Jikiden Reiki Shoden and Okuden seminars give you all you need to know in order to treat yourself and others with Jikiden Reiki. "Universal life energy" is only a very minimal description of Reiki's extraordinary benefit and effectiveness.
Jikiden Reiki is a healing modality and practice that develop natural latent human healing energy and balances body, mind, heart, and spirit in a structured way through light, gentle, non-intrusive touch and compassionate intention and regard.
We are blessed to offer our community Jikiden Reiki® with original beauty and simplicity.

MANY REIKI PROJECTS HAVE BEEN CREATED FOR AIDS PATIENTS, VICTIMS OF WAR, & HOSPICE CARE SETTINGS
GET INTO THE FLOW
When a Reiki practitioner places hands on an area of their own or a client's clothed body, Reiki flows from the practitioner to the client and then back to the practitioner in a circle of compassionate energy that starts when the treatment begins and ends when the treatment stops usually an hour to an hour and a half to two hours later. In essence, the practice of Reiki creates a gentle environment of overall well-being for everyone.
Although the experience of reiki treatment is completely individual -- experienced by both the client and the practitioner as a variety of sensations, including, heat, cold, vibration, tingling, unusual heaviness or lightness, or no sensation at all -- it is often reported as accompanied by a deep feeling of warmth, well-being, comfort, deep relaxation, and revitalization.

The origins of the Usui System of Reiki Healing
HISTORY OF REIKI
The Usui System of Reiki is named after its founder, Mikao Usui. Usui developed Reiki in the 1920's in Japan and spent the rest of his life applying and teaching this healing method.
Usui died in 1926, but Usui's work continued during pre World War II at a clinic in Tokyo, Japan run by Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, a retired Japanese naval doctor. A patient, Mrs. Hawayo Takata - a woman of Japanese descent from Hawaii, recovered from a serious life-threatening ailment at Hayashi's Reiki clinic and became his first known western student. She practiced and taught throughout the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico from 1937 to her death in 1980.
REIKI IN ITS PUREST FORM
Originating from Japan and spreading worldwide, Jikiden Reiki is a different form of Usui Reiki, which means "Directly Handed Down" and passes down without any alteration the original Reiki methods developed by Mikao Usui and passed down to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, as taught to Chiyoko Yamaguchi by Dr. Hayashi and her uncle, Wasaburo Sugano.
Mr. Sugano brought Dr. Hayashi to Ishikawa, Japan, to teach his entire extended family, including Chiyoko Yamaguchi, who practiced and taught Reiki in Japan until her death in 2003.
